UAN Kanazawa is currently my favorite place to stay while in Kanazawa. I’m a frequent traveler to Kanazawa and have stayed at a well known old traditional style onsen ryokan and a reasonably priced chain hotel. I will always prefer the UAN Kanazawa for the following reasons: 1. The UAN Kanazawa is very convenient to many of the major sightseeing places, shops, convenience stores, and restaurants, especially if you like walking to explore. 2. This hotel is a modern take on the traditional ryokan. Very comfortable, very clean, and well designed. While there isn’t an onsen, there is a very deep modern bath tub to soak away your tiredness from walking. 3. I did notice a slight drop in meal quality pre-covid and now, but the Japanese and western breakfasts are still a must for us. The breakfasts are very filling and tasteful. The lobby area also has a small bar, free amenities like tea, coffee, and juices, and free soba in the late evening. 4. There is a free washing machine service as well on the first floor. Free fitness center as well. All very clean. 5. I can’t speak enough about the Staff. In all of the stays there, the Staff has been exceptional. Very pleasant to talk to. Always smiling and accommodating with inquiries and requests. They go out of their way to help and if they are too busy, they will take the time to follow up with you. This hotel Staff has been the most exceptional in all of my travels and stays in Japan these past years.

Everything. The design and size of the rooms, the location, the friendly staff, the wonderful touches like yukatas for personal wear, round-the-clock tea bar and free soba noodle service at night. The room featured two large single beds separated by a side table. There was a humidifier available to us. The bathroom featured a soaking tub and a shower, and there was an extra vanity with a basin outside the bathroom as well. The balcony was lovely and spacious for two. The room’s entryway has a great sliding door that creates a private nook even before you step inside. The hotel has a washing machine and gym available to guests. Breakfast was available with prior reservation. An on-site sake service was also available for a fee. Location wise, it is walking distance from the major historical sights and local markets. It is also well connected by public transport and is 1 hour away from the Shinkansen station.

Location was great: very close to shops and the Market and within walking distance of the Castle and main museums. Small hotel but very carefully designed and pleasant with interesting artwork in the Reception and Lounge area. Rooms and bathroom were good and very comfortable bed (especially after futons on the floor!). Good air-conditioning-- very necessary for cooling down after a busy day of sightseeing in the heat! Excellent breakfast, beautifully presented with choice of Japanese or Western breakfast. Hot and cold drinks available in the lounge and in the evening small bowls of soup udon were offered in the Lounge with the chance to drink sake with some interesting tasting suggestions for the uninitiated. Excellent helpful staff. And a Laundry room with 2 washing machines!

The location - tucked away in a side street but close enough/within walking distance to the main road, Kanazawa castle and Kenrokuen Garden, market and downtown. The staff - very warm and hospitable. They even called us a cab so that we can be on time for our early morning tour to Shirakawa-go. The interiors - very Zen and modern The traditional Japanese breakfast - delicious The amenities - simple, room is quite spacious for Japan, everything you need is there; I like the bath tub and Dyson hair dryer Safety - the hotel seems very popular with women and families

For the price, they really made it feel like an upper class hotel. The staff were so warm and welcoming. There was always freshly brewed tea and juices downstairs. The room was beautifully decorated and very spacious. No onsen but the bathtub and complimentary bath salts made up for it. Bottled water in your fridge daily (which we thought wasn’t common in Japan). Free soba noodles every night was also a lovely touch. It was next to a sake bar which looked so cool but we didn’t get a chance to visit. Close to lots of convenient stores. Overall, a lovely stay.
